Adding insult to injury
It's not enough that Omar Khadr was tortured; now the US is subjecting him to tortured logic. "[The prosecutor] was particularly keen to ascertain that none of the officers bought into the idea that a soldier entering a theatre of war should simply accept the risk of getting killed." Because that's clearly a crazy idea. Regular soldiers in a proper modern military machine can kill people who fight back (and kill a lot of other people too), but resisting the US army is ipso facto a war crime. If the 9/11 hijackers had been part of a regular army, would the passengers on Flight 93 have been guilty of war crimes? This entry is a COUNTERFEIT FAKE: the real entry is thataway. |

that's one way of doing it
I generally approve of all-way stops, but it might not be the best thing for a 5x6-lane intersection. I don't know if there were Mechanical Issues with the signals or if it's always like that on Sundays, but at least half the drivers had no idea what to do. I watched one car sit for at least two minutes, waiting patiently for a left-turn arrow that never came. I gestured, but they ignored me. They probably didn't see me, since I was a couple towns over (that is, at the other side of the intersection). It resembled World War I, where one country's war mobilization (entering the intersection) set off a chain reaction—though with less carnage. Maybe it is the best thing after all. Welcome to K-Town ~safety is every bodys business !!~- Use military flights, MAC charters, or US Flag carriers whenever possible.
- Hijackers usually direct their activities towards the aisle seats, especially the front and rear aisle area. Avoid sitting in these seats if possible.
-
Travel in conservative civilian clothing that does not make you stand out as a U.S. citizen.
US Flag carriers are always safer than airlines owned by European scum.

gender: the gift that keeps on giving
"...males and females rated people who were described as being 'assistant vice presidents' in an aircraft company... When no information was given about how well people were doing in the job, evaluators rated the man as more competent than the woman and rated them as equally likeable. When the background information made clear that the woman was extremely competent, however, the ratings changed. Evaluators now rated the man and the woman as equally competent, but they rated the woman as much less likeable than the man. They also perceived the woman as considerably more hostile than the man. "Thus, in evaluating a woman in a male-dominated field, observers saw her as less competent than a similarly described man unless there was clear information that she was competent. In that case, they saw her as less likeable than a comparable man. Notably, as is the case in almost all such experiments, there were no differences between male and female raters." Sans sans rendez-vous
From the Gripe and Wail: The proportion of Canadians without a family doctor has decreased to about 12 per cent of the population from a previously estimated 17 per cent, according to... Still, that's four million Canadians without access to primary medical care. Either "primary medical care" is a synonym for "Your Very Own Family Doctor™" (which is (a) news to me, and (b) not a very useful definition) or every walk-in clinic in the country just went up in a puff of smoke. (Sorry, Americans, I can't trade Canada's health care problems for yours.) This entry is a COUNTERFEIT FAKE: the real entry is thataway. |
